This old house...

Have you ever driven by a mysterious house that beckons you to investigate?  Who lived there and why is it now abandoned?  When was is built, and by whom?  How was it kept during its happiest of days?

This very house had me daydreaming of the stories it once lived; the people who laughed and loved within it's walls.  And then my mind wanders to a darker shade... its demise was the mechanics of a nefarious tenant and a fateful day that changed the house forever!  This very spot would be a writer's natural muse...

Small packages...

Sometimes the best things come in small packages.  And with those little gifts come sweet, whispering moments that make your world complete.

Spring is coming, you just have to look for it.

The weather has been very bipolar this winter.  Dry as a bone for weeks, feet of snow the next day, followed by quick melting.  While waiting for winter to make up its mind, I found myself distracted by sprouts of green.  Driving near the California border on Highway 66, spring was leaving little clues around each bend of the road.  So much so, that I had to take a break and soak up the beginning of a new season.

55 inches, 3 days.

The winter started out more like a dry, cold summer.  There was less precipitation in December than in July...  We all did our best snow-dance, patiently waiting for puffs of white to blanket the town.  First, the nordic trails are closed due to not enough snow and the very next day closed because of too much snow.  Smiles were had by all, as a blizzard swept through bringing 55 inches in 3 days!  Happy day!

Stretching out the fishing season.

Every year, Adrian fishes the season to its bitter end. And that end seems to come later and later in the year, even if the conditions are described only as "fair".

Late December, we set out to fish Mecca Flats. As we pulled onto the dirt road next to the river, I realized I forgot my waders... I was so disappointed! Even so, it was hard not to enjoy the sun warm my face, or eagerly wait for Adrian to catch the "big" one, and run with Nina as she hunted ground squirrels.

I love days like this.
